The Advanced Fillers & Pigments business unit has increased investments in its precipitated performance silica production site in Chester, Pennsylvania to meet the growing demand in the United States. It is planned to add to the existing capacity several million pounds through de-bottlenecking and yield improvement of already existing key equipment and technology. The first step was completed last year, while the second step will be finalized in 2006. As the world's largest producer of performance silicas and a leader in rubber silanes, Degussa offers this unique filler system first-hand to the rubber industry. The Ultrasil product portfolio includes standard and highly dispersible silica in a surface area range of 50 to 180 m2/g.
